GLOBAL PARTNERSHIPS
Shaping Future Defense: GEMBA Program Bridges Critical Skills Gaps in Cybersecurity and Space
In September 2023, the first hand-picked cohort of executives and senior managers from the defense and space sectors in Australia, the U.S., and the UK began the University of South Australia’s Global Executive MBA (GEMBA) in Defense and Space. This 18-month program, in partnership with the University of Exeter and Carnegie Mellon University, aims to address critical skills gaps in cyber security, space systems, geopolitics, and defense procurement. The MBA features online study and intensive face-to-face residential blocks in Adelaide, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, and London, preparing leaders to navigate complex geopolitical relationships and innovate within these dynamic sectors.
The U.S. component will draw upon the strengths of the Tepper School and its campus partners. This exposure is a gateway to understanding how technological leadership can shape strategy, operations, and competitive advantage in the global defense landscape. The experience will empower students with insights into business, technology, and defense, preparing them to shape tomorrow’s defense solutions.
Tepper School and EGADE Forge Global Partnership to Enhance Business Education
In spring 2024, the Tepper School signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with EGADE Business School Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico. This partnership, led by Horacio Arredondo, dean of EGADE, and Tad Brinkerhoff, assistant dean for masters programs at the Tepper School, is designed to enhance research, education, and international initiatives for both institutions.
Tec de Monterrey, with its 26 campuses across Mexico and nearly 100,000 students, brings significant educational resources to the collaboration. Further strengthening the partnership is the opportunity to work with CMU alumnus Michael Fung (MSc, '97) who serves as the executive director for the Institute for the Future of Education at Tec de Monterrey.
This agreement marks a strategic effort to leverage the strengths of both schools to benefit their students and faculty through shared knowledge and global engagement.
