CIVIC ENGAGEMENT
In It Together: The Community & Inclusion Fund
The Tepper School is deeply committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). This commitment led to the creation of the Community & Inclusion (C&I) Fund in 2019, established by Colleen McMullen, executive director of community and inclusion, in collaboration with the Tepper School advancement office. The fund supports initiatives that nurture the school’s diverse communities.
McMullen, inspired by the enthusiasm of alumni, students, staff, and faculty, raised nearly $50,000, surpassing her goals. The C&I Fund has enabled various cultural and community-building activities, such as welcoming international MBA students, supporting LGBTQ+ events, and celebrating cultural festivals like the Lunar New Year Gala.
McMullen emphasizes that the fund aligns with the Tepper School’s DEIB goals, fostering a sense of belonging and providing resources for innovative programming that celebrates and builds community.
Tepper School Receives Grant from Golub Capital for Board Fellows Program
The Tepper School has been awarded a grant from Golub Capital to establish the Golub Capital Board Fellows Program. This grant will allocate resources to provide MBA students with hands-on experience in nonprofit board governance while contributing to the advancement of local nonprofit partners.
The program is designed to enhance the educational experience of MBA students by combining academic coursework with real-world board service. Students will serve as ex-officio board members for nonprofits, completing strategic projects while advancing the missions of their partner organizations.
The Board Fellows Program will be run through the Accelerate Leadership Center at the Tepper School, which offers leadership training to students through coaching, immersive workshops, and customized programs. Students develop the skills to be confident and inclusive leaders by focusing on emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and constructive dialogue, enabling them to lead effectively in diverse, competitive environments.
