As we approach the end of the year, I’m proud to say that there is much to celebrate at the Tepper School of Business. Among our many achievements, the Tepper School continues to rank among the top business schools across all its academic programs, including our recent ranking from Financial Times as the #8 best MBA program globally for entrepreneurship (sixth-best in the U.S.). Our undergraduate business program, currently ranked #7 by U.S. News & World Report, welcomed 158 first-year students earlier this fall, with the percentage of women reaching an all-time high of 57 percent!
At the same time, our faculty continue to produce path-breaking and award-winning research. Sridhar Tayur, Ford Distinguished Research Chair, professor of operations management, recently was elected to the National Academy of Engineering for developing and commercializing innovative methods to optimize supply chain systems.
Concurrently, the construction of the 315,000-square-foot building in the new David A. Tepper Quadrangle is nearing completion, and in a few short months the building will unite our undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs under one roof. This new state-of-the-art facility will promote strategic interaction and cross-campus collaboration and serve as a hub of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship for all of Carnegie Mellon University.
In addition to these achievements, 2016–2017 was our strongest year for alumni participation in annual giving, and a record number of alumni and friends joined the W.L. Mellon Society! Our successes and continued progress would not be possible without the generosity of the Tepper School community, and for that I am deeply grateful.
This fall, I’ve enjoyed meeting with many of you across the country at our “Cut to the Quad: The Future of the Tepper School of Business” events, which provided many of our alumni the opportunity to learn more about the Tepper Quad and our strategic vision for the future. If you missed it, please visit the Cut to the Quad web page for some of the exclusive and exciting highlights.
Thank you, again, for all you do in support of the Tepper School. I wish you all a wonderful and joyous holiday season.
